Damn spaghetti bolognaise.

I took this, started boiling the pasta, and everything was hunky dory. It had been a good day, one of those where you've had a pretty good run all round...

Then my new smoke alarm had to make itself known, didn't it?

Man, those things are LOUD. How embarrassing...

I am still very much looking forward to eating it... I'm sharing this with you in the first place because it's been a long time since I cooked something that really takes dedication. When I cook stuff like this (ie the sauce from scratch), I feel as if I've truly accomplished something. I put a good amount of effort into it, you know?

Bon appetit!

Everything that's happening is supposed to be happening.

Doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life.

Analysing is really a violent intellectual act. When you analyse something, you have to break it apart and find every little piece of it.

You control your emotions, so you don't have to explode with anger whenever someone else decides to behave in angry ways.

Loving people live in a loving world. Hostile people live in a hostile world. How come?

You can't be authentic unless you're following your bliss.

The path to the big picture is different for everyone, but the understanding has to be that the big picture is there, and its availability is there.

Believe it and you'll see it. Know it and you'll be it!

Today I had the day off, and I needed to get things done:

While my list isn't ever really doable in just the one day (it's always ongoing), I made good headway with a couple of things I'd been meaning to do for a while.

Like cook. A reeeeally good, basic pasta.

Yeah, that's right. I hardly cooked last week because of a combination of returning to routine from holidays and being invited out to eat. Then this week so far hasn't been any better because of two ridiculously late nights, particularly last night which rather frustrated me:

That pretty much says it all. Including that Twitter can't get the time of any of my tweets right.

I'm soon to have a Get Shit Done Weekend if I so choose, with Good Friday actually being a public holiday for me(!) and then somehow landing the Sunday off. Three-day break! Do I stay home and do the nagging stuff or go somewhere? Decisions...

Things I learnt today:

1. I molt like crazy.
OK, so with long hair that's unavoidable. But I went over my quilt cover with the lint collector before washing it (best invention that), and the amount of hair and fluff was just incredible.

2. Flossing is boss.
I've been really good with my teeth lately, adding flossing twice a day to the regime - and again, I've always known the outcome, but as gross as this sounds there's nothing like seeing a particularly notable food particle come out onto the floss. Doing something right feels good.

3. I'm OK with job applications taking forever.
It's something I have to accept. And if they're jobs you really want to apply for it helps, and it's worth it. Yes, I applied for a few jobs today.

Yes, I know, I have a slight obsession with the stuff. I love eating it, smelling it, and heck, just looking at it. But anyone who listened to me on Fresh before leaving Adelaide will know I was petrified about the fact I had to learn how to cook. Ab-so-lute-ly petrified. Not cleaning (although using a washing machine is surprisingly still an art to be crafted), not living by myself - or living so far away from everyone I know for that matter, but cooking.

But since the move I've really found an appreciation for it.

Living by myself I couldn't rely on anyone else, and I couldn't stand the thought of having Subway or sandwiches every night. So armed with plenty of cookbooks that were great presents, I started browsing to suss what I could be capable of. And it wasn't much. But a lot of recipes really aren't difficult once you have a go of the style of cooking once (like baking, although my tuna bake failed a bit).

Did I think I could ever cook salmon with potatoes and aioli and wilted spinach? Hell no! Would I ever EAT salmon at home? HELL NO! But did I totally love this meal? Hellllll YES.

That's the thing - I love different cultural foods etc, but I would hardly eat them in the family house. And now I find myself delving further...

I was particularly proud of this sang choy bao from last week. When would I ever eat something like this, even out? I have no idea what to order when going to any Asian restaurant, just for lack of not eating it a lot growing up. But I'm getting a better idea of what's around now because of my personal exploration. I don't even eat pasta all that much now. And I miss it a little to be honest. Truthfully though, it's because there's different varieties I'm basing my meals on. Some vegetarian, and some fish in particular which is new to the personal diet. It's all exploration baby!

What's the meal you've been most proud of making? Or one you so desperately tried to make but failed?
