7.05am: Makes an informed choice to wear the brightest top she owns. The day's set to be a stinker at 35 degrees, and nothing's going to stop her from shining today.

11.12am: Hands in letter of resignation. It was harder than she thought, for perhaps the few seconds of revealing her news. But the managing editor understood her reasons for leaving, and proceeded to tell her about his own adventures concerning the same company. Use of remaining time in lieu, and therefore official end date, to be confirmed.

12.22pm: After continuing to let selected people know, she feels ready to burst. Mostly from being excited and happy, but there's a hint of nervousness. She tweets a song lyric, rare but appropriate to express how she feels.

1.37pm: Runs into the local cinema manager. He lived in her new location for six years and wasn't taking the piss as could have been the case. Said he loved it. She feels confident.

1.51pm: At lunch with her friend, she discovers a friend of her and her partner's lives there. And they want to visit. That's at least the third time the topic of visits has been mentioned for the day. Just about more than the total amount of times in two years for her current location.

1.59pm: A call from an unknown mobile number. She answers. A chief of staff from a paper she was previously interviewed at wants to discuss a possible opening in their production department. No writing involved, but using online/social media and editing skills as part of a team.

After declining the opportunity, she discovers the position for grabs back then was decided after 'very tough competition', and receives a lovely congratulations and best wishes before the call ends. She ponders the sheer randomness of that call when considering the lack of contact for about seven weeks after an interview from her home city.

3.10pm: Anxious about her use of remaining time in lieu, she asks the managing editor if he has sought necessary information. She has to wait until the next morning.

5.07pm: Walks out of work after a busy day, deciding to have eaten lollies and not go to the gym as a reward. She feels satisfied, and ready to reveal her news to the world.

7.26pm: After breaking the news on Facebook, she writes about her day. Laughs about the sheer SHOCK that has come from everyone on finding out. And then realises there's so much to be done, but just wants to watch Big Brother instead.

WOW.

I've been watching Big Brother tonight in slight disbelief.

It's that time of year ALREADY. It's back. For season number 10 if you can believe it.

Last year's return of the best reality TV show around (sorry, I don't care for singing contests, that's not a social experiment) came off pretty brilliantly. I'd considered going for it but decided not to, and by the end of the season was so impressed I thought 2013 could be my year.

I did actually apply this year FYI, with a video audition because I live far enough from Sydney that I'm allowed to. In hindsight, I think I would have looked more reserved, and as a result didn't have that, ahem, x-factor.

This year's contestants really seem like a mixed bunch, different to usual. Ed's the hottie (and Adelaide born, woo!), Tim is going to rub everybody up the wrong way, I think Sharon's going to be a cooler 'older' person than previous counterparts, and this gay Ben is just so cuddly cute.

I can't believe how excited I was before on remembering Big Brother started tonight. It's going to be another three months of obsessing over people and their reactions to changes in their constrained environment.

I can't wait to see how it unfolds.

I haven't had McDonalds since my New Zealand experience back in March (yay, go me being nearly fast food-free), but when I discovered they were doing Flavours of the Games again I had to get down there.

Not having seen the ads early enough, I missed out on the Atlanta Pork McRib and I somehow failed to see that the London Fish and Fries had just ended too. Stupid girl at the counter when I asked on that weekend had no idea what I was on about, dumbarse.

I thought I'd do a double whammy because I was so ready for a big late lunch. I got the Sydney Stack (with small fries and a bottle of water), and then the Paris Choc Delight for dessert.

The two specialty dishes racked up a total of 4830 kilojoules. So without the fries I'd consumed half of my daily intake. I'd never thought about that before when eating McDonalds - or fast food in general really, but it was right there on the tray in front of me the whole time. And on the wall. Wow.

And didn't I feel fat after eating it? The Sydney Stack was a mess at best (at 2540 kJ), but I resisted taking the beetroot out and it tasted fine. Just a regular burger really with more in it. Tasty.

But this was pretty amazing. What you can't really see here were three small, round crunchy brownie bits. Slightly warmed up. *dribble dribble* The marshmallows were really cute and although I don't usually eat sundaes this was alright, not too much topping. Yum. Although at almost the kilojoule level of the Stack at 2290kJ.

A few days later I was naughty and picked the Barcelona Omelette up for breakfast after going to the gym. Yeah I know, that was pretty bad.

But this was really quite good. Their bacon has no fat on it ever, total kudos to Maccas for that. The omelette itself really did have the chunks of chorizo and that in it and the tomato relish, as opposed to just sauce, actually finished it off really nicely. It's good that it was so small in size, like the normal McMuffins.  And breakfast meant I had to have a hash brown. Oh man, those things are good.

Last was the Beijing Chicken Burger. Crispy chicken with mayo, sweet chilli sauce, lettuce and cucumber. I really liked this actually, the chicken was really good, like KFC-style, but the flavours were offset really well. There was a lot of sweet chilli but it was good. McDonalds don't have to do much to please me because it's such a treat when I decide I feel like fast food. Good results all around, but the gold medal goes to the Paris Choc Delight.

In other Olympics-related news, I had the Dubbo Football Club "Bullympics" last week, where I was involved in the dental cap and biscuit face (aka face of cookie) finals. I may have not won a medal but I walked away with all my pride intact. As well as a team hoodie because they had finally come in :)
Only days away from the real thing! So exciting. I'm trying to do a story on the excitement for the Olympics at work and I'm hoping it gets up tomorrow.

Aaaaaand in other sports news - what's up with the tacks on Le Tour de France? How horrible that someone would want to sabotage the race and risk serious injury to these players. Well done to Bradley Wiggins for being a great sportsman and holding back for Cadel Evans.
